Homecoming 2000 and We're 20 Years Old!

It's our 20th anniversary and we're planning a big party at the Holiday Inn Gateway Center.  You can be part of the festivities too!  Please review the following information to see what's happening and how you can help.

Important Information!  ==> Hotel Accomodations

With our move to the Holiday Inn, we've had to make some changes to our room reservations. As of September 1st, all rooms that were available at the Holiday Inn and our reserved block at the Baymont Inn have been taken. However, there are still several rooms available at the Best Western Starlite. These rooms will be $68 for two person occupancy plus tax. You will need to call Starlite directly at (515) 232-9260 and let them know you're with the ISU Alumni Band. Please keep in mind that these rooms will be reserved on a "First Come, First Serve" basis, so reserve you room today!

Registration

We have registration forms for you in both PDF and HTML versions this year.  So, if you haven't received a newsletter, you can use these forms along with your check (we're nice, but we can't pull this off for free) to reserve your spot. Be sure to hurry as your forms must be postmarked by September 22.

Policies

Please note that due to our growing numbers, we've had to implement a few policies to ensure a smooth and enjoyable weekend for all.  If you have comments or concerns about these policies, you may contact the Board President, Jeff Wellman, at (785) 749-4577 or bando@idir.net, or anyone on the Executive Board.

The Ticket Issue
Tickets purchased privately cannot be used by members of the Alumni Band for admission to Jack Trice Stadium.  This is an Athletic Department policy over which the Alumni Band has no control.  In the past, individuals have subtracted the cost of a ticket from their $35 registration.  The Alumni Band must make up this shortfall if it is not collected from the individual when their packet is picked up.  We suggest that you go ahead and sell your tickets to someone who would enjoy them.

Uniforms
As most of you know, the red Alumni Band jackets are part of our official uniform.  The Alumni Band takes great pride in the professional appearance we project on the field, and uniformity is part of a marching performance.  As such, all Alumni Band members who intend on marching in the halftime show at Homecoming will need to have a red band jacket.  Those without a jacket will not be allowed to march.  There are two ways in which you can obtain a jacket to wear:

The first, and perhaps the easiest, way is to order your own Alumni Band jacket when registering for Homecoming. A jacket costs just $40.00. Your jacket will be available when you when you sign in on Friday night or Saturday morning. Nothing could be more convenient!

The second option is to rent a jacket. A non-refundable fee for renting a jacket is $5.00 when you pick up the jacket Friday night or Saturday morning, and an ADDITIONAL deposit of $40.00 will also be necessary.  This deposit will be kept on file and will be refunded when the jacket is safely returned.

Morning Rehearsal
Some individuals in the past have marched at halftime without attending the morning rehearsal.  This is extremely detrimental to the group as a whole, and detracts from the performance.  If you intend on marching at halftime, it is mandatory that you attend morning rehearsal and arrive at halftime in the full and correct uniform.

Newsletter

The 2000 Newsletter is now available in standard paper form and Adobe Acrobat PDF.  You'll need Adobe's Acrobat Reader to view the PDF file, but it's much easier to read it online.  If you like this method, please tell your newsletter editors Peter Tubbs or Stephanie Hansen, or talk to someone on the Executive Board.

Note: this file is around 2.1 Meg, so be patient on the download.
