For Homecoming 2002, the "OFFICIAL" on-the-field uniform includes the following items:
If you do not have any of these items listed above, please do your best to secure them by Homecoming weekend. It only takes ONE person "out of uniform" to make a difference.
PLEASE NOTE: All Alumni Band members who intend on marching in the halftime show at Homecoming, will need to have a red band jacket. Those without a jacket will not be allowed to march.
RED BAND JACKETS
As most of you know, red jackets are a part of our official uniform. With the introduction of the new athletic logo a few years ago, a change came for us too. Our red jackets have the new logo, customized for the Alumni Band, of course, on the back. The front of the jacket has the traditional Alumni Band logo in yellow. It has a lightweight poplin shell treated to resist stains, front snaps, and a light flannel lining.
There are two ways in which you can obtain a jacket to wear for Homecoming. You may either purchase one or rent one from us.
You can order your own Alumni Band jacket when registering for the Homecoming festivities. Your jacket can then be picked up either Friday night or Saturday morning. A new jacket costs just $40.00.
For a limited time, you have the opportunity to buy a slightly used jacket for only $30.00. Supply and sizes are limited. Call the band office at 1-515-294-0394 to be sure your size is available! if not, you will be notified immediately by the band office.
If you prefer not to purchase one, jackets are available for rent. The non-refundable fee for renting the jacket is $10.00. When you pick up the jacket Friday night or Saturday morning, and ADDITIONAL deposit of $30.00 by cash, check, or credit card will be taken. This deposit will be kept on file and will be refunded when the jacket is safely returned.
If you have any questions about the red jackets, please contact Alumni Band President Gale & Sue Chatterton at (515) 965-0739.
The Iowa State University Band Department will supply the following instruments for those who will need them on Saturday, October 12:
If you need to borrow one of these instruments, please make sure you designate this need on your registration form. Due to a limited number of horns available, it is first come, first serve.
If you need to borrow an instrument other than those listed above, please do your best to try and locate a horn from another source (local schools, music shops, friends). It is very time consuming for the band staff to gather all the necessary equipment at one of its busiest times of the year. However, in the rare instance that you cannot locate a horn, please mark your registration form accordingly.
If you do borrow an instrument from the ISU Band Department, you will need to bring your own lyre, neck strap, etc. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR RETURNING THE INSTRUMENT TO ITS PROPER PLACE AFTER THE GAME!
With our return to the Best Western Starlite Village, we've made some changes to our room reservations. We have 25 rooms reserved at the Starlite (1-800-903-0009 ext.4. Use group #623) with the following price structure:
Unreserved rooms released October 1st
We also have 30 rooms reserved at the new Holiday Inn Express across the street from the Starlite. We have a mix of king, queen, smoking, and non-smoking rooms reserved with a price structure of:
To reserve a room, call the motel directly at 515-232-2300 or Holiday Inn corporate at 1-800-HOLIDAY. When calling either number for reservations, refer to Group Code ALU. Holiday Inn will release unreserved rooms September 28th.
When calling either hotel, identify yourself as a member of the Alumni Band. Please keep in mind that these rooms will be reserved on a "First Come, First Serve" basis, so reserve you room today!
Friday's activities will be from 7 -11 p.m. at the Best Western Starlite Hotel, Ames, located just off I-35 on the 13th Street exit. Watch highlights from the 2001 Homecoming, meet the Executive Board candidates, and enjoy food and a cash bar.
Friday night's theme is "Patriotic, Red, White
& Blue!" Please come as your favorite historical figure,
president, government official, or deck yourself out in red, white,
and blue. Anyone considering coming as a shrub and saying, "I'm
President Bush!, I'm President Bush!", just remember, I have a
weed wacker and I'm not afraid to use it. For those of you so
inclined, please come as your favorite monument! Let the fun
begin!
Signed, The Co-Presidents
Please note that every person eating brunch will need a meal ticket. These meal tickets will be in the packets you receive during check-in on Friday night or Saturday morning. Your registration fee covers meals for you. Please mark the number of extra meal tickets needed on your registration form. This change in procedure is necessary since Scheman catering calculates our meal charges based on plate count.
Transportation to and from the Scheman Continuing Education Building and Jack Trice Stadium will be available on Saturday to any Alumni Band member or guest who does not desire to make the journey on foot. If you would like to reserve a seat on the shuttle, please indicate so on your registration form.
