Panthers Pounce ISU

This year the Alumni Pep Band met for the basketball team season opener on Sunday, November 23 to cheer those Cyclones to a victory over UNI - or at least that was how it was supposed to go . . . but instead the cats came ready to play and pounced all over ISU.

We had a somewhat smaller group this year than usual, due in part to the game being on a Sunday. While those that live too far away to come were missed, those that attended tried to fill their shoes. We all met before the game for a short practice. Although there was no lack of effort - alumns just couldn't help those Cyclones enough to get a win.

Starting out, the Cyclones appeared ready to play and let the Panthers the entire first half and were up 29 to 24 at the break. Then, they even led by eight at one point, but then the cats awoke from their cat nap and outscored ISU 14-0. Coach Floyd still had a team with solid defence but they could never quite come back with the offense. ISU ended up losing 54-48. Even though the game ended on a sour note, the band did not, and a great time was had by all.
