Letter from the Band Director
Dear ISUCF'V'MB Alumni,
It took a while, but the heat of summer has finally reached us
here in Iowa! The summer breeze also brings the building
anticipation of another marching band season, one that is sure
to rival last year in activity.
At the current time, we have seven home games and two
exhibition performances on tap for the fall. In addition to
the home schedule, we will perform at the Indoor Marching Band
Classic in Cedar Rapids on Monday, October 27. And, on
Homecoming Weekend, we will travel down to Ankeny to perform
at the Mid-Iowa Band Championship after the game. We are
looking forward to performing in these exhibitions, and our
students thrive on playing and marching for these audiences.
Our show plans for this fall will include a rock show to open
the season, as well as a traditional patriotic show, music
from Gladiator and Ben Hur, and believe it or not, an opera
show (don't worry, you will recognize most of the music)! The
theme for our Homecoming show this season will be the music of
the Beach Boys -it should be another great weekend. I was very
impressed with the Alumni Band Homecoming activities last
year, and look forward to continuing a wonderful tradition
with all of you on the weekend of October 18. Please make
plans to be a part of it!
Once again, thank you for all of your dedication and support
of our bands here at ISU. It is thrilling to see that the
dedication of the Alumni Band continues throughout the entire
year, including winter and spring here on campus!
Go Cyclones!
