Homecoming Highlights

Alumni from all over the country came back to ISU for Homecoming festivities. Band members and guests enjoyed the "Night of Stars" theme Friday night, especially getting their pictures taken with the "celebrities" that attended.

Saturday's business meeting went very smoothly. Fundraising is doing well and Dennis Goering was presented with a gift for his generous donation for the purchase of new uniforms. Many people enjoyed talking with former director Frank Pierson and his wife Zeda, who were the special guests for Homecoming. Former director Roger Cichy also attended and was presented with an official band jacket.

Alumni were treated to a near ideal Homecoming weekend. The weather and music were great, as well as the football game's outcome!

The 8 a.m. music rehearsal at Cyclone Stadium took place during pleasant, sunny 49 degree weather, a big improvement over the previous year.

"It's wonderful to see all of you again," said Joe Christensen. "I think we're in for a really tremendous day."

ISU's new marching band director, Marty Province, created new charts for the Alumni Band, which were performed on natural grass for the first time ever.

In addition to "Good Golly Miss Molly," the halftime program included "Gimme Some Lovin'" arranged by honorary alumni member and former ISU marching band director, Roger Cichy.

As for the football game, fans were treated to watching Heisman trophy nominee Troy Davis demonstrate his running skills. The Cyclones stunned the Missouri Tigers with a 45-31 win in front of a sold out crowd of 44,941.
