Jim Wilcox, the 1996 Noteworthy Service Award winner, has many recognizable achievements. Most "notable" are the three Alumni Band logos Jim created. He also used his artistic talents to design the masthead for the Alumni Band Newsletter, the basketball pep band t-shirts and the t-shirt used for Autograph Night during Homecoming 1995. He also was very instrumental in documenting through photographs the early years of the Alumni Band. Jim served eight years on the Executive Board, holding positions as Newsletter Editor, Special Projects Coordinator, and Director-At-Large.
The 1996 Tutti Award Recipient, Mark Pankey, is a very energetic supporter of the ISU Band Program. In the two years since he started working with the ISU Foundation and the band program, Mark has taken a never say no attitude towards our fund raising efforts. He continues to look for a "yes!" Mark is dedicated to securing the future of the band program at ISU and for this effort we were proud to present him with the Tutti Award.
Doris Goering, the 1996 Grace Note Award winner, is a dictionary definition of a band fan. She has volunteered her time and energy to join letter writing campaigns to promote the good will of the bands, proofread newsletters, coordinated the Alumni Band Spouses' Coffee and assisted in Alumni Band jacket distribution. She and her husband, Don, have supported the band during its various fund drives and most recently adopted two positions in the Adopt-The-Band Campaign. She is a proud supported of the Marching Band and the Basketball Pep Bands and a very fitting recipient of the Grace Note Award.
About these awards:
The Noteworthy Service Award originated in 1989 to honor members that provide outstanding service to the band program. This award is given to any active Alumni Band member that demonstrates a combination of time, talents, financial donation and service "in the spirit" of the Alumni Band and the ISU band program.
The Tutti Award was first given in 1992 to honor a male "unofficial member" of the Alumni Band for "exceptional support."
The Grace Note Award originated in the fall of 1991 to honor an "unofficial member" of the Alumni Band who demonstrates a combination of time, talents, financial donations and service in "the spirit" of the Alumni Band and the ISU band program.
