Once again, the "Hilton Magic" provided by the ISU Alumni Basketball Pep Band came through strong. On December 21, 1996, the group played at the Iowa State vs. East Tennessee State men's basketball game in the first round of the ISU Holiday Classic.
Despite the game being just before Christmas and against a non-conference opponent, we had a great turnout. The 70 members of the group assisted the team in a 77 - 49 thrashing of the Buccaneers on a brisk winter evening. During the game, the band whipped the crowd into a frenzy, no knowing that the team they were watching would eventually be in the Sweet Sixteen!!
This was the first time that the new Alumni Band folders with songs from "our time" (whenever that may be) were used. We are still taking suggestions of songs from the days when you were in pep band. Please contact Jay Chapman or Jerry Hartman, and they will do their best to fulfill your requests.
If you are unable to make it to Homecoming and would still like to participate in the Alumni Basketball Pep Band, please return your Homecoming registration form and indicate that you are interested in playing in the group, and we will be sure to include you in the mailing.
