Alumni Love a Parade
Submitted by Brian Boesenberg

The spring weather turned summer-like on April 19th when 60 members of the Alumni Band gathered for the sixth year to participate in the annual Alumni Band VEISHEA Parade float.

Alumni Band members from six states gathered for an early bagel brunch, and as usual, good conversation and great fun. After spending a few minutes meticulously decorating the hayrack furnished by a friend of the band, Joe Sabers of Ames, the band moved into position.

As is the case every year, the Alumni Band was greeted by standing ovations all along the parade route. Great sound and Tootsie Roll handouts combine to make a real crowd-pleaser. After numerous strains of "ISU Fights", "Go Cyclones Go", and "Basin Street Blues", as well as a couple of "Gator Fights", the parade was over all too soon.

Unsuspecting motorists on Lincoln Way Avenue were greeted with "Jingle Bones", and "Fog Horns", and various other sounds that emanated from the float as Gary Anderson drove the band back to the Music Building.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to keep mailing costs down, VEISHEA Parade Information is only sent to band members that have attended Homecoming of indicate that they would like to on their Homecoming registration form. If you are unable to attend Homecoming, but would like to be involved in the VEISHEA Parade or the Alumni Pep Band, please indicate this on the Homecoming registration form and return it to the Band Department and you will be added to the mailing list.
