Registration Cost

The Executive Board has set a goal to have the Alumni Band operate financially independent of the Varsity Band. The first step in accomplishing this goal was to review registration fees and costs of events. The second step was to educate the member of the Alumni Band about the costs of the event and what the registration covers.

Do you know what your registration fee covers?

Room rental and food during the Friday night festivities (the Alumni Band does not pay for any beverages.)
Room rental and food at Scheman for Saturday's annual meeting (Food is charged on a per plate count.)
Chair rental, setup and take down for Saturday rehearsal
Admission to football game
Copies of music, flip folders, charts and pencils.
Miscellaneous awards, gifts, raffle prizes, and decorations.
Postage to mail Homecoming materials.
Annual Newsletter.

Can you guess the largest expense?

The annual newsletter is mailed to over 4,000 past Iowa Sate band members. Many costs go into producing this publication.

Mailing labels are purchased from the ISU Alumni Association.
Cover art and photographs are prepared.
Printing.
Postage (Newsletter is shipped bulk rate).

Did you know the Newsletter Editor(s) donate their own personal time to produce this publication? Over 100 hours.

It is true that the Alumni Band members who attend Homecoming pay for those that do not attend to receive the newsletter. There is also an opportunity to have your name removed from the list if you desire.

The Executive Board is proud of our membership numbers and our annual newsletter. The newsletter is our one main tool to reach across the continent. We hope that you enjoy reading it ant that you will help support it.
