VEISHEA 2004
On April 17, twenty-eight Alumni Band members joined in the 2004 VEISHEA parade. This was the 15th year that the Alumni Band has participated. With the assistance of a few Varsity ringers, the band sounded great and was well received by the crowd. Our expenses were the lowest they have ever been and we might have actually broken even. The weather was perfect, and there were no mechanical failures nor injuries, the sign of a truly successful parade entry.
Thanks go to Jill Wibben, who assisted in the coordination of the Alumni Band's participation. Thanks to Jim Wilcox for his assistance in preparing the wagon and for allowing storage of the supplies in his garage. Unfortunately, Wilcox was unaware that these items may be stored in his garage for an indefinite period of time. As always, thanks go to Chris Moffitt of Moffitt Ford for allowing the use of their truck. And, thanks also go Joe Saber for the continued use of a very clean and sturdy (even though we keep drilling holes in it) hay wagon.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, VEISHEA 2005 has been cancelled. The future of VEISHEA is to be determined in November. This decision will be made by ISU President Gregory L. Geoffroy, based upon the recommendations of a special VEISHEA Task Force. Assuming a reasonable agreement is reached between the City of Ames, Iowa State University, and future rioters to be named later, VEISHEA may or may not resume in 2006. So mark your calendars for April 22, 2006...or maybe April 21, 2007...or sometime in 2008.. and we hope to see you then.
