Meeting Agenda
As a general rule, the Executive Board meetings are closed to
the "average" Alumni Band member, but you can still
have an impact. If you have any comments or suggestions, please
contact one of the board members listed below. When available,
the next meeting agenda will give you a better idea of the
proposed topics. For additional information or clarification,
contact the Board President Dennis Goering or Stacey Peden.
Our next meeting is the VEISHEA Meeting which is scheduled for Saturday,
April 17, 2004 at a time to be determined.

How to Become A Board Member
Have you ever wanted to give something back to the band or to
just get more involved and didn't know how? It's easy. It's fun.
You won't even have to spend anything on your election campaign!
The Executive Board meets three to four times a year in
connection with regularly scheduled Alumni Band functions on
campus. This is a great opportunity to become more involved with
the inner workings of the Alumni Band. The Executive Board, among
other things, plans all Alumni Band functions, conducts
fundraising, and helps support the Varsity Band. If you cannot
serve, new ideas from all members are always welcome.
Duties
President (Three-year commitment) shall be
the executive officer of the Alumni Band and the Executive Board
and will conduct all meetings, sign for the organization, and
appoint committees as needed.
Secretary (One-year term) shall keep minutes
of all meetings, distribute them to all members of the Executive
Board as soon as possible, and carry out correspondence.
Newsletter Editor(s) (One-year term) shall
chronicle the meetings and appearances of the Alumni Band so that
members unable to attend may be appraised of the events.
Public Relations Specialist(s) (One-year
term) shall propose and execute publicity campaigns as
appropriate to make the public aware of the good works (and good
times) of the Alumni Band and shall carry out other duties as
assigned.
Directors-At-Large (3) (Two-year term) shall
advise and consult as part of the Executive Board at all meetings
and shall carry out other duties as assigned.
How to Apply
- Select a position from the list above.
- Submit your application (usually to the President Elect).
Or submit a nomination. This consists of a short three or
four sentence biography. Also, send a picture OR we will
take a Polaroid of you on election night. Write-in
nominations will be taken primarily from the registration
forms.
- Campaign during Homecoming activities. You will have a
special candidate name tag to wear. A bulletin board will
have your biography and picture, along with the other
candidates, for viewing on Friday and Saturday.
Elections
Ballots will be in the Homecoming registration packets,
available when you check in Friday night or Saturday morning.
Band members will have an opportunity to vote via the written
ballot during the Friday night festivities or during the Saturday
morning brunch.
Votes will be tallied on Saturday and the results will be
announced during the annual business meeting that morning. Once
elected, you will have your first meeting immediately following
the Homecoming football game.
